Eleanor Vince
Diploma in Art and Design – Foundation Studies (Costume and Textiles)
Winner: Pathway Award
“My finished garment is the bodice and overdress of an Edwardian gown, which is inspired by the story of the Russian Romanov family.
I designed it for their eldest daughter, Olga. I wanted it to be a gown that she would wear in a formal evening setting.
My time at AUB has been really good. I was unsure of what I wanted to do when I began the Foundation course, which is why I chose it. Through trialling the different processes and pathways, I came across Costume Design and it’s now something I’m really passionate about.
I’ve decided to stay at AUB and continue onto BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design. I’m really excited about it! AUB has the best facilities and I was able to talk to the tutors about the course, which was reassuring and helpful.
All my course mates are so inspiring and clever at what they do, so I’m really surprised to have won an award. This is the first full garment I’ve ever made, so I’m really happy.”
