Success for AUB Students on Cuddledry Campaign

Students from the Second Year BA (Hons) Visual Communication course devised a social media campaign for successful Dragon’s Den contestant, Cuddledry.

Page Jones, Charlotte Ellis, and BA (Hons) Animation Production student, Ash Gin–Sing, created an innovative social campaign for Cuddledry, marketing a new parent and baby washbag, with the objective of bringing the product to the attention of new parents.

The Incredible Value of the Design Industry

The Design Council’s new research recognises the imperative value the design industry makes to the economy, highlighting the skills design occupations will require in the future.

AUB recently attended the launch of the Design Council’s new research report ‘Designing a Future Economy’. The report identifies that “design skills are vital to UK productivity, but that businesses face a growing skills gap“, demonstrating the need for specialist art and design education. It is the first time that the contribution of design skills to the UK economy has been measured so thoroughly.

BA (Hons) Fine Art graduates ‘Multiplicity’ and the ‘Pyscho Sensual Time Travelling Drama’

Fine Art graduates Clive Kudakwashe and Jess Thomas, otherwise known as the duo ‘Multiplicity’ have recently shown work in their first solo show.

The exhibition, held at the Truman Brewery, ran from the 1st until the 4th of February and consisted of new work from both Kudakwashe and Thomas, the sole contributors to the collective. The duo won the overall prize at Free Range 2017, exhibiting with their peers within the ‘v.serious art show’ – this solo show being the outcome of the prize.

Visual Communications Senior Lecturer designs new photography app

BA (Hons) Visual Communication Senior Lecturer, Richard Hurst, has designed and launched a new photography app entitled 35mm

35mm brings the skill, mystery, and anticipation of SLR photography to the iPhone. From film selection and exposure to manual/auto focus and flash options, you’re in control as you shoot a roll of 24 exposure B&W or colour film before ‘sending’ it away for 24hr processing. The screen goes blank as you take a picture, just like the mirror going up on an SLR. If 24hrs is too long to wait, an in-app purchase lets you process your pictures in under an hour.
