AUB Alumnus, Tom Hovey: TV Illustrator

Tom Hovey studied BA (Hons) Illustration at AUB, graduating in 2006. Since graduating, Tom worked in London for a while, before landing the biggest gig of his life, illustrating one of the UK’s most popular television shows – The Great British Bake Off.

Tom now lives and works in Bristol. We visited his studio to catch up with him and find out just how he shaped his unique career as a food illustrator.

AUB Alumnus, Andy Ryan: Official Olympic Photographer

Andy Ryan studied BA (Hons) Photography at AUB, graduating in 2013. Since graduating, Andy quickly found his style as a sports photographer, landing his dream job as Official Olympic Photographer for Team GB. Andy has photographed a variety of events, most notably Team GB at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and Winter Olympics in South Korea earlier this year.

Animation Production, Liv, wins at RTS National Awards

Following a regional win at the RTS Student Awards in Winchester earlier this year, AUB is delighted to announce BA (Hons) Animation Production graduation film LIV wins in two categories at the National RTS Awards.

‘Team Liv’ took the Undergraduate Production Design award, awarded to graduates’ Sunniva Fluge Hole, Laura Perkins, Lara Frank and Ching Apple Toh, and the Undergraduate Sound award, awarded to graduates’ Max Ellis and Lulu Ladd.

Edgar Wright, renowned Film Director, Sceenwriter and Producer, returns to AUB

Dorset-born filmmaker, Edgar Wright, best known for his critically acclaimed films Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, and his most recent Box Office hit, Baby Driver, returned to Arts University Bournemouth to share anecdotes about his college days.

Wright was born in Poole and grew up in Swanage and Somerset. He speaks fondly of his childhood days, telling students “some of the earliest stuff I made has an escapist element to it, because I grew up in Dorset and Somerset“. He studied a National Diploma in Audio-Visual Design at AUB (Bournemouth and Poole College as it was then) between 1992-1994, before going on to make his first feature film, A Fistful of Fingers, shortly after in 1995.
