The exhibitions take over the whole of campus, turning into the largest gallery space in the region! Shows are open to the public until Friday 21 June.

The national judging of the Undergraduate Animation regional winning films from the RTS Student Television Awards 2019 has now taken place and a shortlist of three nominations has been selected.

BA (Hons) Animation Production graduate’s stopmotion production ‘Anna’ tours Portugal with MONSTRA à Solta

After screening at festival MONSTRA in Lisbon back in March, 2018 graduate, Jessica Mountfield’s ‘Anna’ was selected for the MONSTRA à Solta (MONSTRA on the Loose) screening tour.

The goal of the tour is to take the new approaches, aesthetics, subjects — the art of animation — to places where it usually wouldn’t reach through the conventional media and means.

‘Whispering Onion’ Animation by BA (Hons) Animation Production graduate Akari Hiraoka selected for Animafest Zagreb

‘Whispering Onion’ has been selected for the ‘Student Films Competition’ programme at the World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb 2019.

Animafest Zagreb was established in 1972 and is the second oldest film festival in the world completely dedicated to animation. Animafest’s Grand Prix winners directly qualify for the Academy Awards and the European Animation Award.

BA (Hons) Animation Production graduates stopmotion production ‘Anna’ wins at Canterbury AniFest

A win for 2018 BA (Hons) Animation Production graduates at Animation Festival.

On Saturday the 9th of March, the day after graduate animation stopmotion production, ‘Anna’, by 2018 graduate Jessica Mountfield won best student animation at the RTS (Royal Television Society) Awards, the animated short also took home the award for ‘Best British Film’ at Canterbury AniFest. Canterbury Anifest is an annual award-winning animation festival in the South East of England.

Ba (Hons) Animation students create innovative 3D Zoetrope in collaboration with MoDip

The Zoetrope is currently open to the public and housed in MoDiP on AUB campus.

The project is a collaboration between MoDiP and BA (Hons) Animation Production students and part of a wider three-week student exhibition of work at MoDiP.

Co-Founder of Aardman Animation visits AUB for Guest Lecture

Bournemouth Film School were delighted to welcome British Film Director, Animator and Co-Founder of Animation Studios Aardman, Peter Lord CBE to AUB last week.

Peter spoke to students about the 40 year history of Aardman Animation, sharing anecdotes and photographs from the studios over the years, talking through its span from drawing, to puppetry, commercials to film. He began the talk with a showreel including some of the Aardman favourites – Pirates!, Wallace and Grommit and Morph.
