A group called The Work in Progress Collective, made up of AUB alumni are featured in the current edition of International Design Network Magazine (Vol23 No6), focussing on Pattern in Illustration.
WIPC’s approach grew from a fundraising collaboration between staff and students on BA (Hons) Visual Communication for the Summer shows 2016. They created prints and pattern books using polymer plates overlaid to explore variation. Read more about the work in progress collective.
On Friday 21 April 2017, AUB hosted the first Graphic Design Educators’ Network (GDEN) regional networking event for the southern region.
GDEN is a subject association – its mission is to incite discourse about Graphic Design practices.
Movember are committed to helping men live happier, healthier and longer lives and they aim to address some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.
Level 6 BA (Hons) Graphic Design student, Emily Braybrook, has won the prestigious packaging competition brief set by Joyo Bank Ltd. based in Mito City, Ibaraki and supported by British Council.
The brief, set to UK Universities, was to package a new powder format Japanese Tea developed by Makinohara.
Third year BA (Hons) Graphic Design student Ben Gale has won first prize £2000 and a 3 month paid placement at Coley Porter Bell as part of the Shine Awards.
The annual competition is run by branding and packaging company, Coley Porter Bell. This year the project brief was to prepare a concept for RAF ‘ACTIVITY’, a range of events run across the UK during Summer festivals and shows. The aim was to connect a younger audience (9-25) with the world of the RAF. This required the design of a brand identity flexible enough to be applied across a broad range of physical environments and digital platforms.
Steven O’Neil and Perry Rowe, both third year students, were lucky enough to gain internships, whilst 20 second year students had the opportunity to visit and speak with associate partner, Jason Ching. Jason is an alumni of the Graphic Design course at AUB and has been at Pentagram for twenty years.

BA (Hons) Visual Communication have full marks in the NSS survey for overall student satisfaction.
The NSS is a series of 23 online questions relating to six areas of the learning experience as well as student unions and overall student satisfaction. It is aimed at final year undergraduates, and assesses universities and other higher education providers on a number of satisfaction-based criteria every year.
Count On Me is a community campaign designed to bring the people of Bournemouth together in a collective way of counting to show that we care, and that we can make a difference.
