Visiting Professor exhibits portraits of staff and students at AUB

40 members of the staff and student community at AUB are the subject of watercolour portraits in TheGallery’s latest exhibition, painted by Visiting Professor Lei Yongbin from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chong Qing, China.

Entitled Swimming Upstream: Cultures of Watercolour, the exhibition will be held in the University’s state-of-the-art CRAB Drawing Studio, which was designed by Professor Sir Peter Cook RA and opened by the late Dame Zaha Hadid in 2016.

AUB welcomes Bestival to campus

AUB is delighted to announce that it will soon be welcoming the Bestival team to campus.

On Wednesday 26th April at 5pm, AUB SU will be hosting an open lecture entitled ‘How to Run a Festival’ which will see DJ and Bestival founder, Rob da Bank, founder of Leefest, Lee Denny, and Ele Beattie from Field Maneuvers share their experiences and insight into the festival world.

AUB wins award for Distinguished Services to Design Education

The Sir Misha Black Awards Committee has awarded the 2016 Award for Innovation in Design Education to AUB for its innovative approach to design teaching.

AUB received special recognition for the creation of The Gallery and for commissioning the first purpose built Drawing Studio in the UK for over 100 years. The Award was presented at a ceremony held at the Royal College of Art in London last night.

Drawing Studio recognised in prestigious 2016 RIBA National Awards

AUB is delighted to announce that its new Drawing Studio, the first of its kind to be built in the UK for 100 years, has today been announced as a winner of the 2016 RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) National Awards.

The Drawing Studio, which was officially opened on 3rd March 2016 by the late Dame Zaha Hadid, was honoured in the prestigious awards that are the most rigorous in the UK, with the winning buildings setting the standard for good architecture.

Drawing Studio and Student Services building win RIBA South West Award

Both the CRAB Drawing Studio and the Student Services Building have won at the RIBA South West Awards 2016.

The Drawing Studio was designed and completed by renowned architect and AUB alumnus and Honorary Fellow, Professor Sir Peter Cook RA and his office CRAB (Cook Robotham Architectural Bureau). It was officially opened on 3rd March 2016 by Dame Zaha Hadid who closed her speech with “I simply love this building.”
