Photography graduate, Anu Rajagopal, speaks to us about running a London Gallery

BA (Hons) Photography alumna, Anu Rajagopal, graduated in 2016. She has since worked her way up in the art world, and is now running Soho based Heni Gallery.

Heni is an independent gallery which is owned by a publishing house called Heni Publishing. Anu was working as a photography assistant and retoucher for a year, and was exposed to meeting a number of professional artists before she began her role as Gallery Coordinator.

Visual Communications Senior Lecturer designs new photography app

BA (Hons) Visual Communication Senior Lecturer, Richard Hurst, has designed and launched a new photography app entitled 35mm

35mm brings the skill, mystery, and anticipation of SLR photography to the iPhone. From film selection and exposure to manual/auto focus and flash options, you’re in control as you shoot a roll of 24 exposure B&W or colour film before ‘sending’ it away for 24hr processing. The screen goes blank as you take a picture, just like the mirror going up on an SLR. If 24hrs is too long to wait, an in-app purchase lets you process your pictures in under an hour.

BA (Hons) Commercial Photography Graduate, Kate Davis, receives runners-up award for Emerging Female Arts Prize

The Emerging Female Arts Prize, is an exciting new art prize initiated by the arts and human rights charity, FiLiA. Kate Davis’ submission, her final BA (Hons) Commercial Photography degree project work, received the ‘Recommendation for Work’ runners-up prize.

The FiLiA supports the development of female artists working in the UK, with entries being assessed on the criteria of originality, aesthetics, technical ability and meaningfulness. The Emerging Female Art Prize aims to provide a platform for female artists to be publicly recognised.

BA (Hons) Photography Senior Lecturer releases vinyl on GSOH Record Label

BA (Hons) Photography Senior Lecturer, Richard Paul,  releases a vinyl-only album on the GSOH Record Label.

The observers ia an audio novella written and produced by Richard Paul, and narrated by BBC presenter Charles Nove. It is underpinned by a selection of motifs based on Schubert’s Winterreise, played on the hurdy-gurdy by Clare Salaman, director of The Society of Strange and Ancient Instruments, with audio design by Jack Mair (BMG production music).

BA (Hons) Commercial Photography student wins EIZO award for Fashion Film

BA (Hons) Commercial Photography student Johnny Fonseca entered his fashion film Interlude into the EIZO Awards competition after being encouraged to do so by his Course Leader.

Johnny worked with an all AUB student and alumni team to produce the film as he was keen to make use of the resources available and encourage collaboration within AUB.
