Lecturers, students and alumni from the Costume course have been involved in a number of projects relating to the Cultural Olympiad, below Adele Keeley has highlighted just a few of the ways in which they have ensured their participation:
‘Plastics for Gold’, an exhibition in the Museum of Design in Plastics (MoDiP) at the Arts University Bournemouth from the 24th May – 10th November 2012, has been awarded the Inspire Mark because it shares certain values of the Cultural Olympiad.
It celebrates diversity and internationality through the global character of design; it helps MoDiP engage in greater depth with young audiences, and it will generate a positive legacy. It also shares some of the themes of the Cultural Olympiad by bringing together culture and sport; challenging events that will encourage participation in the exhibition; and exploring sustainable use of materials within the design for the sports industry.
Celebrating the tenth year anniversary of the project, the Bournemouth Lower Gardens Exhibition returns from Saturday 28th April – Monday 7th May 2012.
Oscar-winning visual effects house, Framestore is embarking on a joint enterprise with The Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) to create a regional outpost for visual effects preparatory work. The new studio launched on Wednesday 16th November 2011.
Following projects with Rihanna, Goldie and Dizzee Rascal, renowned Urban Artist ‘Soap’ was commissioned by The Arts University Bournemouth for its latest campaign to advertise the Arts University’s Open Days this Autumn.

Elissa Elwick, a 2008 Illustration graduate from The Arts University Bournemouth is celebrating with the publication of her first book, 'The Princess and the Sleep Stealer' which she wrote and illustrated following graduation.
The Arts University Bournemouth has once again confirmed its status as one of the top specialist HEIs in the UK, with excellent results in the 2011 National Student Survey (NSS).
Overall satisfaction with the Arts University rose by 3% from the previous year, to 82%, which was 6% above average in the Creative Arts and Design sector. Learning resources also scored highly with 87% of students recommending the facilities, which came in amongst the top 20 universities in the country alongside personal development.
The Arts University Bournemouth is proud to announce that it has received unconditional Part 1 validation from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) for the BA (Hons) Architecture degree course.
