AUB Design Studios (Blocks A and B) have won a second award, at the RIBA South West Award 2017 ceremony.
The Design and Studio Workshops (Blocks A and B that house BA (Hons) Make Up for Media and Performance, BA (Hons) Modelmaking studios and Preparation for HE) have now taken two awards at recent ceremonies.
The workshop was part of the AUB Human series of events that aim to inspire and challenge students to consider their own obligation towards social, ethical and sustainable practices.
AUB celebrated the 80th birthday of acclaimed English architect and Honorary Fellow of the University, Professor Sir Peter Cook RA, in its new multi award-winning Drawing Studio yesterday, designed by the Royal Academician himself.
The event, consisting of a lecture and drinks reception, honoured Professor Sir Peter Cook RA and his contribution to architecture and teaching throughout his career. The Drawing Studio at AUB is the first of its kind to have been built in the country for 100 years and is Professor Sir Peter Cook’s only building in the UK.
Earlier this year, students at AUB worked hard to recreate the original model of one of Berlin’s most iconic landmarks, following a commission from Lord Norman Foster.
Seven Second Year students on AUB’s BA (Hons) Modelmaking course were tasked by Lord Foster to build a replica of the original model of the Reichstag dome for The Norman Foster Foundation. The dome was designed by Lord Foster in 1993 to symbolise the reunification of Germany and the original model was lost.
