Putting Edge – Fine Art student exhibition curated by Douglas Fishbone

Putting Edge is an exciting new project which brings artist-designed mini golf to the heart of Bournemouth for the first time.

BA (Hons) Fine Art students have been given the opportunity to create and exhibit their own sculptures, in this temporary re-design of the town’s Lower Gardens Miniature Golf Course. The students will be working alongside internationally renowned artist and crazy golf specialist Doug Fishbone, who has previously presented an art crazy golf course at the Venice Biennale in 2015 featuring some of Britain’s leading artists such as Yinka Shonibare MBE. Fishbone has also designed courses with artists such as Jake and Dinos Chapman and David Shrigley.

Graduate in residence blog: Workshop with Richmond College

Fine Art graduate in residence, Sian Hutchings, recently ran a workshop entitled ‘A Composition for Drawing’ for students from Richmond College, along with final year student, Joseff Morgan.

Sian tells us more about the event: “After the success of running the sonic journals workshop for South Downs College, I was asked to run a fine art/illustration based workshop for art students from Richmond College.

Fine Art Auction

Third year BA (Hons) Fine Art students will hold an art auction to raise money for their London degree show, with donations from John Baldessari, Jeremy Deller and many more.

The auction will be held on 16 March 2017 from 6-9pm in the Refectory with a silent auction that will feature students’ donated work and a hammer auction with works donated from established artists including work from the Fine Art course team.

Fine Art lecturer invited to present work and be on a discussion panel for VOLTA NY 2017

Dominic Shepherd, BA (Hons) Fine Art Senior Lecturer, has been invited to be on a discussion panel and present work for this year’s VOLTA NY international art fair, representing CHARLIE SMITH LONDON GALLERY.

VOLTA NY is the invitational fair of solo artist projects and is the American incarnation of the original Basel VOLTA show, which was founded in 2005 by three art dealers as a fair “by galleries, for galleries”.
