Alumni Faye Bowden’s Residency at the Royal Drawing School

Faye Bowden is a working artist who graduated from the BA (Hons) Fine Art course in 2015.

After applying for a residency run by the Royal Drawing School in October 2017, Faye was successful and will be attending a two-week, full-time residency based in Dumfries House, South-West Scotland. We chatted with Faye before her impending and exciting opportunity began.

Drawing, the Start of Every Practice

For some time, drawing was thought to be a dying practice. Fortunately, today, this age-old tradition is making a drawn-out but undeniable comeback.

It’s been several decades since drawing classes were no longer considered important enough for British art college courses. A skill that involves drawing from casts, life models and prints alike, many institutions, including AUB, are reintroducing this wonderful practice.

Graduate in residence blog: Workshop with Richmond College

Composition of a drawing

On 20th February, I had the opportunity to run a workshop along with BA (Hons) Fine Art Course Leader Richard Waring and two students helpers (Charles Pritchard & Joe Morgan) for 26 Japanese students from Kyoto University of Art and Design (KUAD).
