Students from multiple courses at AUB have collaborated on a project in response to a live brief set by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO).

Creative Events Present Mary Anning Rocks

BA (Hons) Creative Events Management students host a rocking Science and Arts themed event in the CRAB Drawing Studio.

As part of their Live Event Brief, Level 5 Creative Events students worked with the Mary Anning Rocks, a charity set up to remember the paleontologist, Mary Anning and raise funds to install a statue on the Jurassic Cost.

Arts University Bournemouth welcomed alumni, friends and past staff back to campus to celebrate 25 years of the Creative Events Management course, one of the oldest of its kind in the UK. The event provided a nostalgic return to the university community for over 100 CEM alumni, celebrating their achievements since graduating.

Professor Stuart Bartholomew, AUB’s Principal and Vice-Chancellor, said: “Celebrating 25 years of the progress of this course is a great occasion, and the spread of talent represented by our CEM alumni is impressive.

AUB Shelley Season featured in local and national press

This Autumn, AUB marked the 200th anniversary of the publication of the iconic novel Frankenstein, with a whole season of productions to pay tribute to the author, Mary Shelley, receiving coverage both in local and national media.

The first plays of the series, Mary Shelley, Blood and Ice and Freakenstein, were all performed at The Shelley Theatre, a venue that was built for Mary by her son, with the later production CTRL C being performed in St. Peter’s Church, the rest place of Mary Shelley.

AUB alumnus, Jim Cregan: Entrepreneur

After graduating from BA (Hons) Arts & Event Management [now BA (Hons) Creative Events Management] in 2004 Jim Cregan discovered ready-to-drink iced coffee during a year travelling around Australia and decided to bring the product back to the UK

He devised a recipe with his sister and business partner, Suze, and, after selling their first carton of Jimmy’s Iced Coffee in Selfridges in 2011, the brand has gone on to be a supermarket staple, stocked in the likes of Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Whole Foods. We met up with Jim at his company’s HQ in Christchurch to find out more about his company and his time at AUB.

Bestival returns to Arts University Bournemouth

Bestival, the UK’s official Best Major Festival, collaborated again this year with the Arts University Bournemouth’s Student Union to host the ultimate end of year festival on campus.

The AUB courtyard was fully transformed by Bestival into a mini festival site, complete with live music, BBQ and DJs sets including a guest DJ set by Bestival’s very own Rob Da Bank.
