AUB No.1 for Graduate Employment

AUB celebrates 98% graduate employment rate – a result which puts AUB joint top of any English University, according to results released in the DLHE (Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education) Survey last week.

AUB has the joint highest graduate employment rate of any English University, achieving the rate of 98% employability in the Survey, which reviews the destination of graduates six months after they have left the institution.

Two BA (Hons) Fashion students have received awards at Graduate Fashion Week 2017.

Daniel Rynne was awarded the Debenhams Menswear Award, as well as First Runner Up in the George Catwalk to Store Award, for his collection inspired by The Great Depression.

Graphic Design student wins prestigious packaging competition

Level 6 BA (Hons) Graphic Design student, Emily Braybrook, has won the prestigious packaging competition brief set by Joyo Bank Ltd. based in Mito City, Ibaraki and supported by British Council.

The brief, set to UK Universities, was to package a new powder format Japanese Tea developed by Makinohara.

Graphic Design student awarded first place in Shine Awards

Third year BA (Hons) Graphic Design student Ben Gale has won first prize £2000 and a 3 month paid placement at Coley Porter Bell as part of the Shine Awards. 

The annual competition is run by branding and packaging company, Coley Porter Bell. This year the project brief was to prepare a concept for RAF ‘ACTIVITY’, a range of events run across the UK during Summer festivals and shows. The aim was to connect a younger audience (9-25) with the world of the RAF. This required the design of a brand identity flexible enough to be applied across a broad range of physical environments and digital platforms.

Acting Alumni production to show at Edinburgh Fringe Festival

BA (Hons) Acting Alumni Elliot Warren and Olivia Brady’s production, FLESH & BONE will be showing at Pleasance Courtyard at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, having won £10,000 as part of the Charlie Hartill Fund.

The pair started Unpolished Theatre Company in September 2016 and Flesh and Bone is their first show. Described as “A show that gives the gritty residents of an East London Tower Block a stage, through their wickedly eloquent voices we are thrust into their stories, held by the scruff of the neck, and made to listen” FLESH & BONE follows the lives of five characters, three of which are played by AUB Alumni, Elliot Warren, Olivia Brady and Alessandro Babalola.

BA (Hons) Fashion student, Sophie Whatling, has been awarded runner up at FAD Competition 2017.

Described by Vogue.com as an “undeniable springboard”, the FAD Competition exists to inspire, support and promote young designers at the earliest stage in their careers.

Photography alumna wins South West Graduate Photography Prize

BA (Hons) Photography graduate, Mimi Chambre, has been awarded Foto Now’s South West Graduate Photography Prize.

She will now work on a paid residency in partnership with Fotonow CIC and Knowle West Media Centre.
