A giant retro ghetto blaster will be seen on the roads of Bournemouth for the next academic year, thanks to an innovative bus design from AUB.

Unveiled today, the wrapped 11m x 4m double-decker bus has bass speaker cones for wheels, a tape deck between its windows and is covered with over 80 dials, switches and speakers. The long top window takes the place of an AM/FM radio display.

Have You Got Four Candles? Alumnus book brings Poole history to life

BA (Hons) Graphic Design alumnus, James Addison, is delighted to have released his first book, exploring inside one of Britain’s oldest hardware stores.

The book goes behind the scenes at W.E. Boone & Co – well known locally for its Aladdin’s cave interior filled with unexpected delights. Addison documents its 195 years of heritage that includes scandal, fire and the effect of two world wars. James worked with Photographer Rose Duffy who graduated from BA (Hons) Commercial Photography in 2011.

On Monday (5th September) visitors to AUB are invited to explore work designed and created by graduating MA students at the Private View of the University’s postgraduate exhibition, GRAFT.

 AUB’s Fine Art Studios will host work from across the MA degree courses at AUB, including Commercial Photography, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration and Spatial Practices.

Lord Norman Foster commissions Modelmaking students to recreate lost model

Earlier this year, students at AUB worked hard to recreate the original model of one of Berlin’s most iconic landmarks, following a commission from Lord Norman Foster.

Seven Second Year students on AUB’s BA (Hons) Modelmaking course were tasked by Lord Foster to build a replica of the original model of the Reichstag dome for The Norman Foster Foundation. The dome was designed by Lord Foster in 1993 to symbolise the reunification of Germany and the original model was lost.
