Graphic Design win ‘Best Stand’ and Pencils at D&AD New Blood

An impressive win for our fresh BA (Hons) Graphic Design Graduates.

The best courses from across the UK exhibit at D&AD New Blood Festival in Shoreditch London. The stands were judged by top industry designers and art directors and our Graphic Design stand won the top award  – ‘Best Stand’.  This award recognises design presentation, communication and accessibility to student work. We showcased all our Graphic Design graduates using various media including showreel, portfolios and websites.

BA (Hons) Textiles at New Designers exhibition

Third year BA (Hons) Textiles students recently returned from a successful week at New Designers Part 1 at the Business Design Centre in Islington – the ‘UK’s most important exhibition for emerging design’.

New Designers is a showcase for new and emerging design talent in the UK, featuring graduate work from Britain’s leading design courses. Part I focuses on Textiles, as well as jewellery, ceramics and glass.

Students create innovative tree installation for Ojo Rojo

Two third year BA (Hons) Modelmaking students, Phyllida Swift and Nic Browne, recently completed an installation for new Bournemouth restaurant, Ojo Rojo.

Phyllida and Nic were commissioned to build a bespoke installation for the new Mexican-inspired healthy eatery by co-owners Trevor Hill and JJ Adams, after making the door handles for the restaurant.

Fine Art success at The Batsford Prize 2016

BA (Hons) Fine Art student, Josie Dove, has been awarded runner up at The Batsford Prize 2016.

Josie responded to this year’s theme of ‘Reuse, Recycle, Reclaim’ with an installation piece.

Acting alumnus cast in high profile musical

BA (Hons) Acting alumnus, Joshua Barton, has been cast in the UK tour of Roddy Doyle’s West End musical, The Commitments.

The show tells the story of Jimmy Rabbitte, a young working class music fan, who shapes an unlikely bunch of amateur musicians and friends into an amazing live act, the finest soul band Dublin has ever produced.

MA Illustration student, Joan Alturo, has been awarded the title of Student Runner-Up in the Student Illustrator of the Year award category.

The prestigious V&A Illustration Awards celebrate the best illustration published over the last year and are held annually by the V&A museum in London.

Bournemouth Film School collaborates on BFI short film

Students and alumni from Bournemouth Film School at AUB are part of a short film that has received funding to be shot locally.

The Sunstone production company was chosen over 300 applications to receive £5,000 as part of the latest round of Creative England’s iShorts, delivered as part of the BFI NET.WORK – an agency which supports new and emerging filmmakers.
