BA (Hons) Make-up for Media and Performance graduate, Kate Garett, has been working at the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) since September 2016, after graduating in June this year.

She said: “I got the job by knocking on the stage door. This led to a week’s work experience and then a permanent job.

Have You Got Four Candles? Alumnus book brings Poole history to life

BA (Hons) Graphic Design alumnus, James Addison, is delighted to have released his first book, exploring inside one of Britain’s oldest hardware stores.

The book goes behind the scenes at W.E. Boone & Co – well known locally for its Aladdin’s cave interior filled with unexpected delights. Addison documents its 195 years of heritage that includes scandal, fire and the effect of two world wars. James worked with Photographer Rose Duffy who graduated from BA (Hons) Commercial Photography in 2011.

AUB Technician Demonstrator, Preeti Sood, has won the John Purcell Paper Award at neo:printprize2016,

Preeti received the award for her work The Gathering, which was shortlisted from over 600 entries.

MA Show – GRAFT

On Monday (5th September) visitors to AUB are invited to explore work designed and created by graduating MA students at the Private View of the University’s postgraduate exhibition, GRAFT.

 AUB’s Fine Art Studios will host work from across the MA degree courses at AUB, including Commercial Photography, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration and Spatial Practices.

BA (Hons) Visual Communication have full marks in the NSS survey for overall student satisfaction.

The NSS is a series of 23 online questions relating to six areas of the learning experience as well as student unions and overall student satisfaction. It is aimed at final year undergraduates, and assesses universities and other higher education providers on a number of satisfaction-based criteria every year.

MoDiP secures funding from Arts Council England

Specialist research resource at AUB, The Museum of Design in Plastics (MoDiP), has today been awarded a grant of £36,400 by Arts Council England.

Arts Council England has awarded 94 museums and organisations a total of £12,271,676, as part of the second round of the Museum Resilience Fund. The fund aims to support museums to become more sustainable and resilient businesses.

“I suffer from asthma and rarely carry an inhaler, when I heard that the number of asthma attacks is increasing I decided to see what I could do about it. My response was to create ‘Breathe’, a small refillable inhaler that blends into your lifestyle. The inhaler is accompanied by a smartphone app that connects to your device and is able to help you through an asthma attack.

James Cole, Lecturer on our new BA (Hons) Creative Writing course has had his book ‘Reading Through Binoculars’ shortlisted for the Dundee International Book Prize.

The shortlist for this year’s Dundee International Book Prize has been drawn from three continents, taking in New Zealand and even reaching Scotland’s most northerly tip.
