Fine Art graduate Joella Wheatley exhibits ‘Forgotten Lines’

2012 Fine Art graduate Joella Wheatley is having her first major solo show at Aspex Gallery in Portsmouth.

Aspex welcomes back Joella,  winner of the 2012 CVAN SE Platform Graduate Award, for her first solo exhibition between 7 June – 27 July 2014, with a preview on Friday 6 June at 6pm.

AUB students animate the UN’s International Fund for Agricultural Development

BA (Hons) Animation Production students Olga and Irina Ertahanova have won $2,000 as part of the IFAD-AUB Animation Prize with their animated adaption of the IFAD’s Adaption for Smallholder Agriculture Program.

The winners of the IFAD-Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) Animation Prize of US$2000 are sisters, Olga and Irina Ertahanova from Ulan-Ude in the Russian Federation. The competition asked students on the undergraduate animation course to capture the essence of IFAD’s Adaptation for Smallholder Agriculture Programme (ASAP).

AUB in top ten for graduate employment

A report published this week rates Arts University Bournemouth amongst the very best at finding graduate employment for students who would not typically have the opportunity to enter higher education.

In a proposed new Social Mobility Graduate Index, Arts University Bournemouth is rated 7th out of 162 institutions due to the large number of students from disadvantaged groups or backgrounds and non-traditional students in graduate-level jobs within six months of leaving university.

Film students win at Kodak Student Commercial Awards

AUB Film Production students won ‘Best Cinematography’ for ‘The Sea’ – an charity advert filmed on 16mm.

‘The Sea’ is an advert for the charity ‘Shelter from the Storm’ – a shelter for the homeless. Winning Best Cinematography, 2nd best in brief and 3rd Best overall, AUB beat off some strong competition from 12 other film schools.  The awards, held in London, were given by the film director Sir Alan Parker CBE.

AUB’s online creative community grows with kscope for Android

Following the successful launch of kscope for iOS in 2013, Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) has launched kscope for Android, along with a major update to kscope for iOS and a completely new online experience at kscope.aub.ac.uk.

The all-new Android app has been built from the ground up to reflect and do justice to the unique experience of kscope for iOS — an experience that was recognised by Apple and featured in the iOS App Store’s Best New Apps during launch week.

Professor Paul Ward and Paul Taberham from BA (Hons) Animation Production feature in a prestigious series of books for the American Film Institute (AFI).

The books, published by Routledge, are internationally recognised.

Nathan Ball, an M.Arch student at AUB, has been working with the National Trust, on ‘future-proof’ beach huts that can withstand extreme weather and a changing coastline at Studland in Dorset.

School of Visual Arts Berlin Trip 2014
