The AUB Student Union (AUBSU) Thank You awards recognise those particular staff members, who go above and beyond their roles at AUB.
The winners were announced on Friday 31 March, by Students’ Union President, Lauren Housego.
The workshop was part of the AUB Human series of events that aim to inspire and challenge students to consider their own obligation towards social, ethical and sustainable practices.
BA (Hons) Illustration Visiting Tutor, Richard Allen, was named Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year in 2016. He’s now exhibiting his work at Petworth House.
Richard is the subject of a solo exhibition at Petworth House of his commissioned work for the National Trust. Petworth has long been associated with acclaimed artists and has a collection shaped by a family of collectors and patrons.
Third year BA (Hons) Graphic Design student Ben Gale has won first prize £2000 and a 3 month paid placement at Coley Porter Bell as part of the Shine Awards.
The annual competition is run by branding and packaging company, Coley Porter Bell. This year the project brief was to prepare a concept for RAF ‘ACTIVITY’, a range of events run across the UK during Summer festivals and shows. The aim was to connect a younger audience (9-25) with the world of the RAF. This required the design of a brand identity flexible enough to be applied across a broad range of physical environments and digital platforms.
Students will work with participants with early-stage dementia, as well as their families and carers. The workshops are part of the course’s Applied Theatre Project, which encourages students to collaborate with specific target groups outside of the course.
Arts University Bournemouth is pleased to sponsor Song and Dance, a live performance by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO).
The performance features the music of Adams, Rachmaninov, Bernstein and Gershwin and took place on Wednesday 22 March at Lighthouse Poole.
Putting Edge is an exciting new project which brings artist-designed mini golf to the heart of Bournemouth for the first time.
BA (Hons) Fine Art students have been given the opportunity to create and exhibit their own sculptures, in this temporary re-design of the town’s Lower Gardens Miniature Golf Course. The students will be working alongside internationally renowned artist and crazy golf specialist Doug Fishbone, who has previously presented an art crazy golf course at the Venice Biennale in 2015 featuring some of Britain’s leading artists such as Yinka Shonibare MBE. Fishbone has also designed courses with artists such as Jake and Dinos Chapman and David Shrigley.
Wolfgang Tillmans, critically acclaimed Photographer and AUB alumnus, recently visited the University to give a guest lecture to students.
The lecture is part of the BA (Hons) Commercial Photography Guest Speaker programme, which includes speakers from a variety of areas within the creative industries, including set designers, art directors, picture editors, agents, stylists and photographers from a variety of genres.
