Fine Art Lecturer featured in Strange Worlds: The Vision of Angela Carter Exhibition

BA (Hons) Fine Art Lecturer, Dominic Shepherd, is exhibiting at Strange Worlds: The Vision of Angela Carter Exhibition.

His painting, ‘The Season of the Witch’, is included in this major exhibition celebrating the life of the writer Angela Carter. Delving into the latent meanings of childhood fairytales and the twisted imagery of gothic mysticism, this exhibition pays homage to the dark and compelling drama of Carter’s visual imagination – brutal, surrealist and savage.

Commercial Photography alumna designs Hermès Christmas windows

Alumna, Rhea Thierstein, is an Artist, Art Director and Set Designer, and has recently showcased her work in the Hermès Christmas Artist Windows.

Since graduating in 2005 with an FdA in Commercial Photography, Rhea has collaborated with the likes of Photographer Tim Walker, and worked with clients such as Dior, Vogue, and John Lewis.

Fine Art final year students exhibit at ArtSway in The New Forest

Final year BA (Hons) Fine Art students, Taylor Davies-King, Sydney Butterfield and Lily Lineham, showcased their work at ArtSway in The New Forest.

The exhibition titled ‘When Two or More Are Together’, featured sculpture, installation and digital media works that both engage with the space and the audience.

Film alumnus secures job at ILM

Dan Carney, 2016 BA (Hons) Film Production graduate, has secured a job working for Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) VFX and Animation studio.

He gives an insight into life as Technical Assistant for the company, which was founded by George Lucas in 1975.

Richard Allen named Landscape Artist of the Year

Sky Arts awards A. Richard Allen the Landscape Artist of the Year.

BA (Hons) Illustration visiting tutor, Richard Allen has been named Landscape Artist of the Year. In a dramatic grand final on Sky Arts on Tuesday 29 November, Richard prevailed over stiff competition, beating thousands of other artists to claim the top prize: Landscape Artist of the Year!

Fine Art Graduate through to finals of Platform Award

Sian Hutchings, BA (Hons) Fine Art alumna and Graduate in Residence, has been shortlisted for the National Platform Award.

Sian is one of five graduates around the UK that have been shortlisted for the award. De Le Warr Pavilion, MK Gallery, Aspex Gallery, Modern Art Oxford and Turner Contemporary all selected one artist.

The Observatory at ArtSway

AUB Architecture have installed an exhibition at ArtSway by a team of young architectural graduates from Fielden Clegg Bradley Studio, about the making of The Observatory, a temporary artist studio.

The project was created for SPUD and the exhibition coincides with The Observatory relocating to Lymington for three months.

AUB’s Who Are You? India campaign nominated for THE award

Who Are You? …in a gender defined world — a competition which asked young people across India to debate the topic of gender through art — has been nominated for a Times Higher Education Award.

The campaign, devised by Arts University Bournemouth’s International development and Marketing teams, has been nominated for Outstanding International Strategy in the THE Leadership & Management Awards 2015. Other nominees in the category include University of Bath, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Harper Adams University, The Open University and Swansea University. The winner will be announced in a London ceremony on Thursday 18th June 2015.

PrepHE Pathway Leader Documents Yann Tiersen’s Midsummer Cycling Tour

Preparation for HE Pathway Leader Sam Wilkins has documented the midsummer cycling tour of musician and Amelie soundtrack composer Yann Tiersen.

To promote his new album, ∞ (Infinity), Tiersen undertook a 1000km cycling and signing tour of Brittany, France over six days in July. Documenting the whole tour was PrepHE Pathway Leader for Film and Animation, Sam Wilkins.

Illustration students win Macmillan Children’s books Prize 2014

Final year BA (Hons) Illustration student, Louis Craig Carpenter has won joint third prize in the prestigious Macmillan Children’s books Prize 2014 for his work ‘Umbra’.

Allie Oldfield was also awarded highly commended for her work ‘In the Night’
