MA Commercial Photography student shortlisted for Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Award

The Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Awards received an overwhelming amount of entries, selecting 20 winning artists. MA Commercial Photography student Dorine Bessiere was one of the 20, for her ‘Cheeses’ still life images.

Dorine’s work is a series composing of six images, within each picture the colours used have been carefully chosen to match the others and each photo mirrors the same elements as a sign of continuity.

Graphic Design student wins JDO RAW competition

Second year BA (Hons) Graphic Design student Kieran James has won the Ministry of Sound JDO RAW competition.

The competition was to discover the nation’s most forward thinking graphic design student who was able to combine intelligent branding with trailblazing creativity. Kieran will have the chance to see his design on the cover of the 2016 edition of the Ministry of Sound’s flagship compilation series, The Annual. Alongside seeing his design on the shop shelves, he will also receive a cash prize and a two month paid placement at JDO.

VisCom’s Type and Cake brings the Bake Off to AUB

Students and staff from BA (Hons) Visual Communication brought the Great British Bake Off to AUB with their third annual Type and Cake competition.

Described by course leader, Sally Hope, as a fusion of the course’s collective love for type, cake and baking, the competition saw students from all three years, as well as lecturers and visiting tutors, enter cakes to be judged by a panel of graphic designers and industry experts.

Twenty young creatives honoured for their creative flair in international arts competition

Twenty young creatives have been crowned as the winners of this year’s Who Are You? competition, which supersizes their winning artwork onto billboards in London and across other major sites in the UK.

The annual competition developed by Arts University of Bournemouth (AUB), aims to give budding creatives between the ages of 14-19, the opportunity to express themselves by asking them to create a poster which states who they feel they are in the world today. On hand to judge the entries were a host of leading lights in the creative industry; including the world renowned photographer Rankin, young artist Stuart Semple, and war photographer Giles Duley.

Staff and students at Arts University Bournemouth are celebrating after being shortlisted for seven awards in the prestigious HEIST Awards, with the winners being unveiled at a glittering ceremony in Manchester in July.

The Heist Awards for Education Marketing have evolved over the last 24 years to become the premier awards programme for marketing in the education sector. They exist to recognise and celebrate the professionalism and innovation shown from the smallest regional college to global education brands.

World-renowned artists come out in support of Who Are You 2 competition

World renowned photographer Rankin, international artist Stuart Semple and war photographer Giles Duley, have all come out in support of Arts University Bournemouth’s annual competition to find emerging creative talent. The artistic heavy-weights will support the University in giving teenagers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their creative work on billboards across the country.

The nationwide competition entitled ‘Who Are You 2’ asks for creative 14-19 year olds to create a piece of work that reflects who they are in the world today. The twenty eventual winners will then see their work supersized and displayed on billboards across the country with the support of outdoor media specialists and competition partner, JCDecaux.
