The Art, Animation and Archives from The Snowman and The Snowman and The Snowdog.
Re-animating the Snowman uncovers unique material from the never-before-seen archives to tell the story of animation through this beloved children’s classic.
Featuring original cels alongside pre-production work this exhibition provides a behind the scenes insight into the creation of The Snowman. It also features material from The Snowman and the Snowdog, the sequel created to mark the 30th anniversary of the original landmark broadcast.

Meet the Curators
Steve Henderson is the editor and owner of Skwigly Online Animation Magazine, producing written, audio and visual content on animation as well as curating short film packages, screenings and live events. He is also a founder member and co-director of the Manchester Animation Festival, one of the UK’s only dedicated festivals to the animated art form. Steve is a lecturer in animation at Manchester Metropolitan University and is currently completing a PhD on animation archives at Loughborough University.
Daniel Cox has a background in delivering collaborative projects within the animation, film and games industry. He was instrumental in establishing the Centre for Digital Entertainment at Bournemouth University, a collaboration that works to develop links between industry and academia through research projects. Daniel is the Knowledge Exchange Manager for Arts University Bournemouth where he is responsible for developing relationships with external partners.
The Snowman and the Snowdog was produced by Lupus Films for Channel 4.
