On Friday 28th June, 728 arts, design, media and performance students from Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) will be celebrating the end of their degrees with a Graduation Ceremony at historic Wimborne Minster.
Four creative industry specialists Pete Fowler, Mat Hunter, Dave Alex Riddett and Nick Dudman will be celebrating alongside the students, after receiving Honorary Fellowships for their services to arts, design, media and performance respectively. In addition, previous AUB Chairman of Governors, Nicholas Durbridge will be receiving an Honorary MA for his services to Media.
Pete Fowler is a Welsh artist, best known for his Monsterism toys and goods. He is a freelance illustrator and ‘monster creator’ inspired by animals, music, folklore and psychedelia; Mat Hunter is Chief Design Officer at the Design Council, a national organisation which pioneers the use of design and architecture for the public good; Dave Alex Riddett is a prominent English cinematographer, best known for his award-winning work at Aardman Animations; and Nick Dudman is the multi-award winning special effects artist, working as a designer / supervisor on a number of successful motion pictures, including the entire Harry Potter series.
Nicholas Durbridge, an AUB Governor from 2001, and the Chairman for the Board of Governors from 2007 – 2012, is the Founder and Chairman of The Copyrights Group, a licensing agent for writers and artists, including the celebrated character from Darkest Peru, Paddington Bear. He will be receiving an Honorary MA at the Graduation Ceremony for Media, in recognition of his services to Media Rights and Licensing.
After the Graduation Ceremony at Wimborne, students and their families will continue to celebrate the culmination of their hard work on AUB campus with champagne and strawberries; a big band; and a viewing of the Summer Shows.
