A perfect home for the arts

Bournemouth is steadily becoming a rich source of creative talent. There are many creative businesses thriving in the town, providing lots of opportunities for our students.

Live Venues

Take your pick of live venues and theatres. There’s always something going on in the town.

The BIC is the largest venue on the South Coast with the capacity of 10,000. As well hosting some of the largest names in show business, the BIC puts on exhibitions, food events, conferences and also has an ice rink!

A more traditional venue than the BIC, the Pavilion theatre is the ideal set for dance and drama. It also plays host to our graduation ceremonies. We’re working with Pavilion Dance South West and use their studios and theatres in our Dance course.

With a rich history as the home of the Shelley family, the Shelley theatre hosts amateur and independent drama troupes, and functions as a cinema.

Based in Poole, the Lighthouse is a dazzling venue for drama performances and live music. The main hall has some of the best acoustics in the country.

A favourite live venue for many, the O2 was originally an opera house. It’s ideal for people seeking something different on a night out.

Based in the New Forset, gallery space Artsway has become a second home for our students who use the space for exhibitions and as an opportunity to get inspired by some of Dorset’s most beautiful scenery.

Creative business on campus

Our campus has homed some of the big names in the creative industry. Visual effects company, Framestore, work on our campus where they’ve produced Oscar-winning effects for films such as Gravity and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Arts events

We also sponsor the annual Arts By The Sea festival that draws thousands of visitors to the seafront.
