Access Voucher and Proof of Concept Voucher

Supported by European Structural Investment Funding (ESIF)

Project:

Sling Studio is a Dorset business that sells wraps, baby slings and scarves. All their products are designed woven, spun and dyed in the British Isles using natural fabrics. Slings and scarves are produced in strictly limited runs and sell all over the world.

Alicia Jeffries, MD, approached AUB to produce a new range of scarves and wraps that drew upon the design talents of our second year BA (Hons) Textiles students.

Through a Proof of Concept voucher, Sling Studio were taken on as a student ‘Live Brief’ unit throughout the Autumn term where fifteen students submitted designs for consideration.

These designs were put out on social media for her customers to vote on the best one with the winner being taken into production. Over 1000 people responded and the design were so popular that three will be taken into production.

The company also received an Access Voucher to use the dye room in our workshop to produce a range of bespoke fabric lab dips.

The final designs will be going into production in early 2018.
