Developing an IP animation and production pipeline
Supported by European Regional Development Funding (ERDF)
About the project
LoveLove Films is an award-winning independent animation and video production company based in Bournemouth. In 2018, the business successfully applied for AUB-ERDF Innovation funding to support the development of a pilot for their first in-house animation, Bottle Island.
Bottle Island is a fun and fast-paced 2D / 3D mixed-media ‘edutainment’ preschool adventure series that encourages young children to care for their planet by reinforcing themes such as conservation, preservation and the issues surrounding plastic pollution. The development of the pilot not only brought in specialist full-time animators to LoveLove but worked with local businesses such as Momo Tempo to develop the score and character voices.
To promote World Environment Day on 5th June 2018, LoveLove Films collaborated with the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) using characters from Bottle Island to promote the day to pre-school audiences across the world.
On 6th December LoveLove also participated in a Meet the Maker Letterpress workshop, where the team got to explore and try their hand at mixing traditional and modern printing techniques for visual communications. Find out more about their experiences in their own words.
By undertaking the R&D process of Bottle Island, LoveLove were able to develop Pop Paper City, a 3D animation for preschool markets. In 2019, Pop Paper City secured distribution rights from Aardman Animations, which has set LoveLove on track for fast-growth in 2020.
