AUB’s strong maker culture puts collaboration at the heart of our practice, supporting our students to develop professional skills and supporting our industry partners to develop innovative products, services and experiences.
As a specialist institute of learning, AUB has a strong reputation in delivering skills-based capabilities across art, design, media and performance. We have multiple levels of engagement including ‘Live Briefs’ for students, staff-led research projects, staff industry secondments, student internship and EU funded innovation projects.
AUB have recently been successful in attracting £1.2m investment from the European Regional Development Fund to support research and innovation projects with Dorset Industry and £1.4 million from the Dorset Growth Deal to develop an Innovation Studio to support start-ups in the region.

AUB is developing a new Innovation Studio to support early stage start-ups. Participants will be housed in our flagship studio with access to our workshops and a programme of support dedicated to getting their fledgling business off the ground. Supporting Dorset Business
Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) are making a significant investment in supporting Dorset businesses. The £1.2 million project, match-funded by AUB and ERDF, helps SMEs, Social Enterprises and microbusiness undertake Research and Innovation projects to develop new products and services.Find out more
