Preparation for HEExtended Diploma in Art and Design

Course Overview

This exciting, varied and practical, two year course can lead directly into employment in the creative industries, or, as a progression to Higher Education courses in art, design, media or performance. Many students choose this course rather than remain at school after GCSE to study in a specialist creative environment.

Is this the right course for me?

If you’re not sure which area of art and design you’d like to study, this course gives you the chance you to try a broad range of disciplines before focusing on a specific area. You’ll develop your interests and strengths as our expert tutors guide you through the course.

If you’re already clear about your career path, you’ll be encouraged to develop your specialism more fully (for example, a student interested in photography would use elements of photography within printmaking and graphic design).

The course is designed to give you a strong, practical knowledge in aspects of art, design and media. It covers a wide spectrum of disciplines such as:

  • 3D design
  • animation
  • costume
  • fashion
  • film
  • fine art
  • graphics
  • illustration
  • painting and drawing
  • photography
  • sculpture
  • textiles
