2012 Graduating year – Award success

Natasha Durley

Natasha graduated in 2012 and was selected as a Best of Year winner Illustration Category at the D&AD Student Awards 2012. She has just begun an Internship at the YCN agency and has already been commissioned by high profile clients including Nobrow publishing.

Kate Copeland

Kate is a busy freelance Illustrator working in London. She is represented by the YCN Illustration agency and has exhibited and published widely. Her International clients include Sagmeister Inc , The Times, Wallpaper*, Anomaly NY and the War Child charity. Kate graduated from BA (Hons) Illustration in 2010.

Justin Windle

Justin’s passion for interactive software and manipulation of computer code led him to Stockholm, Sweden, where he was Interactive Developer at Fi (Fantasy Interactive). He is currently employed as a Senior Interactive developer at Qwiki, New York City, USA.

Justin is anything but a conventional Illustrator, but he flourished while studying on the current BA (Hons) Illustration programme at Bournemouth.

Justin graduated from BA (Hons) Illustration in 2009 with first class honours.

David Callow

David Callow graduated from The Arts University Bournemouth in 2007. During his study, David won the Silver Award for New Talent for work submitted to the Association Of Illustrator’s Images 31. Following a small group exhibition in London, he started work as a freelance Illustrator. Represented by Agency Rush, David has produced a number of commissions for clients including YCN, Dorling Kindersley, and The Independent newspaper.

David’s work has featured in magazines and books, most notably Hair’em Scare’em, published by die Gestalten Verlag. He has also participated in a number of solo and group exhibitions, including a 2009 show entitled All Hail Atlantis, commissioned by AIM Gallery. In 2010 David worked alongside Holly Wales to create ‘Open’ a studio collective based in De Beauvoir Town, East London.

Emily Golden Twomey

Emily Golden Twomey graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth in 2006 with a first class degree in Illustration. In 2010 she saw her first picture book ‘The Loon on the Moon’ published by Scholastic and her second, ‘The Fabulous Flapdoodles’, was published this year.

Other clients Emily has worked with include Scholastic, CBeebies Bedtime Hour, United Airlines, Urban Outfitters, The Guardian, The Independent Magazine, Anorak Magazine, and The Illustrated Ape.

She was nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal and the Scottish Children’s Book awards in 2011.

Debbie Powell

Based in London, NYC, and Southbourne, Debbie Powell is a freelance illustrator and hand letterer who works with water colour, ink, linocut, pencil, pen and printmaking to create her imagery for a range of international clients. These include Carluccio’s, Penguin, Jamie Oliver, Marks and spencer, Galison, Walker Books, Simon & Schuster, Rick Stein and Readers Digest. She also illustrates a weekly column for the Independent.

Heather Gatley graduated from the AUB in 2006 and has since built a strong freelancing client list including: Waitrose, LVMH, The Times, Penguin Books, The Guardian, Financial Times, Harvard Law Review, The AOI, The Illustrated APE, Microsoft Magazine, Virgin Books, Harper Collins and The London Business Forum.

Will Jarvis

Will Jarvis is a Motion Designer (animator/illustrator/graphic designer) working for Channel 4 – having spent 3 years at ITV. He has had work nominated for several awards including one from NTA’s. He graduated from BA (Hons) Illustration in 2006.
