Master of Architecture

Course Context

The Arts University Bournemouth offers students an exciting and unique opportunity to study on a highly creative postgraduate architecture course. Although students will be embarking on a professional Masters in Architecture which shares with other QAA Architecture Final Awards in the UK criteria set down by the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), here at AUB they will be engaging with a very special context, and with a distinctive approach to architectural education.

Located within a specialist art, design, media and performance institution, the course offers students the potential to study alongside other creative and cultural disciplines and to determine their individual emphases of practice through interdisciplinary collaborations. There are opportunities to work together in many different ways, whether in shared elements of study (especially with other MA students) or special projects, through shared facilities (such as workshops), or on an informal, ad hoc basis with other students. Collaboration will introduce the techniques and ways of thinking of other specialisms, offering dialogue and exchange. Through sharing practice and theory with other specialisms students will increase their awareness and critical understanding of the specific features and characteristics at the core of architectural practice and thought.
