Bournemouth Skillset Media Academy

In 2007 Skillset introduced Media Academies and AUB and BU applied successfully to become additionally a Media Academy in 2007.

In May 2010 the BA (Hons) Film Production at AUB received trailblazer accreditation, in 2011 there were only 2 undergraduate film courses in the UK with accreditation by Skillset. AUB now operates eight Skillset accredited courses, BA (Hons) Animation Production, BA (Hons) Film Production, BA (Hons) Digital Media Production, BA (Hons) Photography, BA (Hons) Commercial Photography, BA (Hons) Make Up for Media and Performance, BA (Hons) Graphic Design and BA (Hons) Modelmaking have all received the ‘Tick’ kitemark by Creative Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for the Creative Industries.

Bournemouth Screen Academy

Due to the growing reputation, both nationally and internationally, AUB, in partnership with Bournemouth University, successfully bid to be a Screen Academy in 2005. The film, costume and performance courses at AUB being a central component of the Screen Academy offer. These designations from Skillset were designed to recognise excellence in film and the broader screen-based media. The 7 or so institutions with Screen Academy status were able to access bursaries and draw down revenue funding (supported by the UK Film Council).
