TheGallery at Arts University Bournemouth offers a unique space in the South West for the arts including design, media and performance. Showcasing work from contemporary artists, TheGallery has forged important links with regional arts organisations; including Aspex, Russell Cotes Art Gallery and Museum, Dorset Visual Arts and Arts Bournemouth.
TheGallery runs a number of artist talks, events and film nights to support the exhibition programme. It also works in partnership with WestBeach, Pier Approach in Bournemouth, to host artworks from TheGallery’s exhibition programme on the walls of WestBeach, as an additional platform for TheGallery to showcase their exhibitions, making the artwork accessible for all and encouraging further exploration of the exhibition in TheGallery at AUB.
text+work is a gallery initiative that invites artists to develop exhibitions and events. This has forged partnership with writers and critics who provide supportive narrative in the form of published text to accompany the exhibitions.
TheGallery runs a number of artist talks, school workshops, events and film nights to support the exhibition programme.
Admission is free to TheGallery and all its exhibition events.
We believe that learning doesn’t just take place in the classroom, it happens everywhere. That’s why we’ve created a diverse programme of Gallery activities that offers children and young people the unique opportunity to learn about what happens in Galleries and see and interact with original artworks. These have included workshops, discussions groups, talks and tours.
Schools can book a free one-off workshop for visiting students. These workshops are lead by artist and creative facilitator Rebecca Strain, who is an established education workshop leader. Class sizes should be no more than 30 pupils per group and workshops usually last two hours. All materials will be provided.
